I haven't made a song in awhile, but I've been working with FL Studio 8, messing around. I've made about 8 test songs, one of which may eventually be developed into a full song.
If you're interested in hearing one of these test songs, suggesting a name for one, or just want to comment, then PM or comment.
As far as Flash goes, I don't have anything going at the moment. I might do another collab game with Adman, since I can't seem to make any decent graphics myself :(. But whatever I end up doing, it's not coming out anytime soon, unfortunately.
7 comments | Log in to comment! | Share this!Alright, I've started a new game. Or, more specifically, a new game engine. I want to perfect the engine before I start the storyline or art.
The game engine is a side-scroller (or platformer). I want some ideas from you on what I should make. The ideas can have to do with storyline or gameplay things (like power-ups), but specifically I want some ideas on what I can add to an engine. To help you understand what I want, I'll tell you what I have done on the engine.
- Barriers: walls, ground, platforms that you can jump up on from below, and platforms you can't jump up on from below.
- Movement left and right, "camara" following
- Jumping
- Enemies: enemies that move left and right that only change direction when they hit a wall, and enemies that do the exact same thing except they also jump constantly.
So, along those lines, do you have any good ideas for my engine?

This is the first time I've had an awesome score immediately after passing judgement ^_^

Though it took so long to finish the collab, it was worth the wait. If you've ever wanted a main place to find Flash tutorials (as well as various other programs, like Photoshop, FL Studio, and others), this is the place for you. It not only has great tutorials, but it also links to some other great tutorials.
Check it out here.
Happy Flashing!

I aimed for a slow day to post this collab, which I thought deserved a 3.8. But the users that happened to be online at the time thought otherwise.
3.54!
Please vote 5 on it, I and the participants worked really hard to only get an average score. We were thinking a 3.8 and a Daily award (even Daily 3rd).
Thanks,
Luke

For those of you who don't know what the Legend of Newgrounds is, it's a parody of the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. The main character will be Pico, and you must save King Tom from the darkness that has befell the Kingdom of Newgrounds--spam Flashes. Find out who is behind the onslaught and save the king!
The game will have four (er...was it five???) dungeons, each with its own boss. To give you some new info on the game, one of the bosses will be the FBF Monster, based on Fishhook's series Black and White. It will be a shape-shifting thing that has different attacks based on it's current shape.
In addition to TLON, I'm working on a puzzle game and a collab. Not to mention I just got a Nintendo Wii and I still have school. I'm a busy guy :D
Well, until next post!
Luke

In other news...adman1993 will be working with me on the Legend of Newgrounds. There's currently nothing I can show you, but stay tuned :D
The Hanging Collab has slowed down, so if you're in it, POST (oh, yeah, and make the part). If you're not in it, GET IN IT! :D

Following is my post as was posted at http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/82 0934/7

Game Engine
Controls are the arrow keys and SHIFT is the action key. "P" pauses the game. You cannot die, but you can lose hearts by touching the enemy in the room on the right. You can move in front of walls (I wanted to show this off, so the player is odd-looking) and behind the tall green tiles.

Hey, everyone! I'm starting on a new project, which should be really good! I just need a good animator to help!
Name: ShirkDeio

I'm definitely at least a 6, and IMO I'm probably about an 8, as far as skill level goes.

Currently, I have the main idea of the game done, as well as the main gameplay engine. It's a parody of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and is called The Legend of Newgrounds--the main storyline is done. All that's left for me to do is to finish the storyline (basically, I have the beginning and the end done, I just need the middle stuff), add some things to the engine, and add in the animation--sprites and cutscenes.

That's what I need the animator for--sprites for the game, and cutscene animations. I would also like some help finishing up the storyline, as I only have the rough idea of what's going to happen in there.
For previous work of mine, see my sig, and the game engine above.
The deadline is April 30--Pico Day. I want to launch the game on Newgrounds BEFORE Pico Day (for Pico Day but not on Pico Day), which means I want the game done late March so that there's a good month in there for us to get a sponsorship (which I will take care of getting).
Sponsorship money will be split between us. The money will be split 50/50. I will worry about getting the sponsorship, you don't have to.
You can contact me via my NG inbox, as I will be checking it almost every day.

I would like any good animator to join me--someone who is good at animating and has the time to work on this project.
I would be interested in talking to Edvin about working with him, just because I liked that picture he posted above. I've added him to my AIM buddy list, so as soon as he's available, I'm going to talk to him about this--I'm also going to send him a PM. But don't let that discourage you from PMing or AIMing me, because he might not have time to work on it or I may not want to work with him--anything could happen, so don't hesitate to send me a message!
Hope to work with you soon!

Welcome to the Hanging Collab! In this, my first collab, the viewer will be left hanging several times.
The idea is that someone joins the collab and makes a "set" of two or more parts with one storyline that continues each part--for instance, part one is a man walking down the street and a bomb falls at his feet, part two is the bomb exploding and the man dying. But I will break them apart--I will play the first part, then switch to someone else's part, leaving the viewer hanging. Later on in the animation, the second/third/fourth/etc part will be played, picking up where the previous part left the person hanging.
----------
Specs
----------
Format: Flash 8
Stage: 400x300
Frame Rate: 24fps
What is Allowed?
You can include frame-by-frame or tweening, whichever you prefer. Sticks are fine, if I like the animation. You may use sound fx, if they sound good. Violence is also allowed (and encouraged :D)
What is NOT Allowed?
You may not use sprites. You may not include nudity, profanity, or adult themes. You may not include copyrighted material (including Mario, etc.). Little-to-no talking in your set.
Other Rules
I would prefer that people who join have a batting average of 3.0 or more, or that I already know and trust the person. If the part is good, then it doesn't matter, though. I can say that I don't want your part if I don't like it (well, duh).
Send your completed parts to me, either by linking the .fla here or emailing a link (don't email me the file--upload it somewhere like http://www.spamtheweb.com/ul and email me just the link). Post previews (or the final product) of your work here, if you wish.
Let's see...I'll make transitions, add music, make the menu, and add your name in the corner, so don't bother with any of those. I may make credits, but if you would like to make some, I would consider using them.
----------
Menu
----------
The intro and menu are mostly done, except for any events that happen when you click on the buttons. Let me know what you think of it!
----------
On another note, how do you post to the front page (artist news)?

Hey, to whoever's reading this. I'm starting work on my next game. If it ends up as good as I'm imagining it, it will be a really cool game!
I'm not going to say much about it yet, but I will say that it is a parody of the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Progress? Well, I've programmed the bulk of the engine I'm going to be using. I've asked someone to do the graphics, but so far I haven't received anything. I'm assuming he will get things done, though, at which point I will tell you his name :)
Well, have fun browsing NG!
